Angie McMahon/ ‘Light, Dark, Light Again’/ AWAL

Angie McMahon has announced her new album ‘Light, Dark, Light Again’ (out October 27 via AWAL) a thirteen-song collection that finds the Australian songwriter processing core-shaking revelations while navigating the uncharted waters she’s endured since her 2019 breakout debut 'Salt.' After being compared to “a one-woman Fleetwood Mac” (NPR), winning SXSW’s Grulke Prize for Best Developing Act and opening for artists like the Pixies, Father John Misty and Mavis Staples - McMahon returns with a bold acknowledgement, even an embrace, of the uncertain, the temporary and the ever-changing. Her ‘Light, Dark, Light Again’ collaborators include many of her longtime Australian musician friends, in addition to her co-producer Brad Cook and his frequent Bon Iver collaborators Phil Cook (organ) and Matt McCaughan (drums) - plus Hand Habits’ Meg Duffy, Polaris Prize finalist Leif Vollebekk and Jenn Decilveo (Porridge Radio, Lucius). Inspirations range from the writings of Tibetan-Buddhist scholar Pema Chödrön to the music of Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith to the cycles of nature in the expansive Australian skies.
