SonReal/ ‘The Aaron LP’/ Black Box

Whether its folk-tinged acoustic ballads like the album opener “Fearless” and “1000 Highways,” the soul-infused tracks “Healing” (ft. Jessie Reyez) and “Quit,” or the intensely personal joints “Voicemail” and “Ted,” every song is a deeply relatable look into the person behind the music - Aaron Hoffman.

Nick Lowe

Nick Lowe/ ‘Love Starvation / Trombone’/ Yep Roc

Lowe, the “master songwriter who never takes himself too seriously” (Rolling Stone), and Los Straitjackets, America’s beloved masked men of surf-and-spy guitar instrumentals, team up once again. Recorded in Woodstock, NY, over a short break from touring, the EP features three new Lowe originals and a cover of “Raincoat In The River,” an obscure gem originally recorded by Sammy Turner and produced by Phil Spector.

Dan Tepfer/ ‘Natural Machines’/ Sunnyside Records

Using Yamaha's self-playing Disklavier piano as his only instrument, “one of the moment’s most adventurous and relevant musicians” (New York Magazine) sets a new framework for how humans can make meaningful art. These songs, simultaneously written and recorded in single takes, are products of Tepfer's improvisations interacting with his own computer programs; his algorithms process the music to instantly create counterparts and trigger the Disklavier's keys to express sound.

Morrissey/ ‘California Son’/ Etienne Records/BMG

Moz follows up last year's "heartfelt" (Rolling Stone) cover of the Pretenders' "Back on the Chain Gang" with a covers album of ‘60s and ‘70s protest songs. "One of the most influential figures in the history of British pop" (BBC) takes on luminaries of the era (Joni Mitchell, Dionne Warwick, Bob Dylan) while also delving into the likes of early gay icon Jobriath and political activist Phil Ochs. The collection boasts collaborations with alt-rock royalty Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Ed Droste (Grizzly Bear), Sameer Gadhia (Young the Giant), and LP.
