The Dip – Mercury Lounge (NYC)


The electrifying Seattle seven-piece ensemble with “impeccably crafted, 60’s-steeped soul” (KEXP) sells out this headlining Manhattan show. The young group has quickly gained notoriety throughout the Pacific Northwest for its eminently danceable live shows, featuring the powerful vocals of frontman Tom Eddy (Beat Connection) and bolstered by the deep pocket of its meticulous rhythm section.

Jackie Greene – Town Hall (NYC)


Greene presents “The Modern Lives - IN CONCERT.” This eye-popping visual production was inspired by “The Modern Lives,” Greene’s short film collaboration with Oscar-nominated animator Bill Plympton (Madonna, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Kanye West) and designed by Cour Design (Paramore, LCD Soundsystem). This tour supports Greene’s new EP, The Modern Lives - Vol 2 (10/5 via Blue Rose Music) and features his new live band consisting of GRAMMY-winning producer and keyboardist Shannon Sanders (John Legend, Jonny Lang, Robert Randolph) alongside Nathan Dale (guitar) and newcomers Megan Coleman (percussion), Jon “Smoke” Lucas (drums) and Ben Rubin (bass).

Intelligence Squared U.S. Debates “Progressive Populism Will Save the Democratic Party” – Kaye Playhouse (NYC)


Is embracing progressive populism the key to leading the Democratic party out of the political wilderness? Or should the left champion centrist policies to win elections and regain power? Bernie Sanders' 2016 campaign manager Jeff Weaver partners with MoveOn.org national spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre, a veteran of both Obama campaigns, to argue in favor of the motion. Debating against the motion are Third Way co-founder Jonathan Cowan and a partner to be announced.

Masego – Irving Plaza (NYC)


Following his largest European tour and a summer US amphitheater trek with Leon Bridges, the “soul music-making machine” (Ones To Watch) hits the road again for a fall headlining tour. Dubbed "most intriguing player" (OkayPlayer) at this year's Smokin' Grooves festival, Masego builds his own beats live juxtaposed with his saxophone solos.

Take Me To The River - Sony Hall (NYC)


Multiple generations of iconic New Orleans musicians – Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Dumpstaphunk’s Ivan + Ian Neville, The Meters’ George Porter Jr., Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, 2017 GRAMMY winners Los Bayou Ramblers, the 79ers Gang and Terence Higgins – perform together to chart their city’s musical evolution and worldwide influence. There will also be educational workshops and activities at the show available for students to inspire social consciousness and community building. This tour is in honor of the upcoming film “Take Me to the River NOLA,” the follow-up to the acclaimed Memphis documentary directed by GRAMMY-nominated producer Martin Shore, who will also be on tour.

Ariana And The Rose – Public Arts (NYC)


Making a grand return after last summer's soirée, the “beloved indie pop guru” (PAPER) brings light + space, her galactic, immersive Brooklyn party, to Manhattan nightlife hub PUBLIC Hotel. This staple of contemporary NYC nightlife – the glitter-coated lovechild of a classic ’80s disco party, a pop show, an immersive theater production and an art rave from Mars – was conceived as an underground party in East London and came stateside for a sold-out debut performance at House of Yes last November. Quickly followed by a triumphant three-night residency that also sold out, the party continues to stake its claim as a highlight of the NYC party circuit.

Rosanne Cash – Pioneer Works (Brooklyn, NY)


Cash presents the specially curated event “She Remembers Everything – An Evening of Literature and Song.” She’ll perform songs – many for the first time – from her forthcoming album, She Remembers Everything (11/2 via Blue Note). Joining her are poet, artist and activist Staceyann Chin; author A.M. Homes; astrophysicist, author and Pioneer Works Director of Sciences Janna Levin; and writer Maria Popova, who will read works by strong literary voices like Angela Davis, Ursula K. Le Guin, Toni Morrison and more.
